Contrary to popular belief, rainbow moonstone is closer composition to labradorite than moonstone itself. Rainbow moonstone is still considered a feldspar due to the layers of stone and feldspar, as well as flashes of color. Rainbow moonstone also contains black flecks of black tourmaline.
